Have You Forgotten

Something This CHRISTmas?

Many Times It Is The Most Important Things That Are Overlooked!

At Xmas, you wouldn't think it were possible, but the most important things are often forgotten. In all of the hustle and bustle of the season, and with all of the shopping and preparations, something is almost always forgotten. It could be a certain dish from the Xmas meal or even a certain gift for a certain person. These things can cause embarrassment or even a temporary inconvenience, but if the most important things are overlooked, it can mean missing out on a full and heart satisfying celebration of one of the most important events of all times. It can also have eternal consequences.

Xmas has become so commercialized that we may not easily recognize that Christ is missing from Xmas. Oh, it may not have been a deliberate exclusion, but no matter how we might seek to explain the oversight, it still has the same results.

You may ask, "How have we left Christ out of Xmas?", but it is easily seen on paper, yet it may not be so readily apparent in your life. If you are interested in clearly seeing how this is possible, ask yourself the following questions:

1.    Did I notice CHRIST was not in Xmas?

2.    Do I know whose physical birthday Christmas honors?

3.    Do I make Christ the central person of my Christmas?

What Most Important Things Are Overlooked?

The most important things are the person and purpose of Christmas. Let's look at these two things.

The Person Of Christmas

The Lord Jesus Christ is the central person of the Christmas story. Long before Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, Frosty The Snowman and even Santa Claus himself, the birth of Jesus was foretold in the Bible. In Isaiah 7:14 we are told, that a virgin would give birth to a son who was to be called Immanuel (God with us). In Micah 5:2 we read that Jesus was to be born in Bethlehem.

Not only was Jesus' birth foretold many hundreds of years before it happened, but the Bible and history books record that it did come to pass. We read in Luke 2:6-18 that the Angels told shepherds that Jesus had been born in Bethlehem. We read further that they were joyful and quickly went to see for themselves that this great event had taken place.

We read in Matthew 2 that wise men from the east came to Jerusalem looking for Jesus so that they could worship and honor him. When they found him as a young child at his home, they honored him by giving precious gifts to him.

The Purpose Of Christmas

Just as important as the person of Christmas is the purpose of Christmas. From the beginning of time, God planned for Christmas to be a great blessing and joyous occasion for all mankind. Matthew 1:21 tells us that the meaning of the name Jesus expresses God's purpose for Christmas. We read, "… for He (Jesus) shall save his people from their sins." Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and died upon a cross and rose from the dead to pay the penalty for our sins and to provide heaven for us.

This Christmas you can experience the true meaning of Christmas - Jesus Christ - and receive forgiveness of sins, joy beyond measure, and eternal life with God in Heaven. If you believe that Jesus died for you and are willing to receive him as the Lord of your life and your Savior from sin?

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power (authority or right) to become the sons (children) of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Right now, wherever you are, you can receive God’s special gift to you - Jesus - as your Lord and Savior.

You may pray a prayer like this: Dear Jesus, I believe that I am a sinner and that you died and rose again from the dead to forgive my sin. I want you to save me and take control of my life. I am willing to turn from my sins and follow your ways for my life. Thank you for forgiving me and making me one of your children. AMEN
